StarDist is a deep learning-based method for the segmentation of nuclei in 2D and 3D. Compared to traditional image segmentation, StarDist performs much better in the segmentation of small and roundish objects, especially in situations where the objects are very close together or overlapping.

Arivis AG has recently published a detailed protocol on performing StarDist segmentation directly in Arivis Vision4D using python. In a future update, segmentation using StarDist will be supported within the analysis pipeline in Arivis Vision4D.
